Three things to note about the Sprockets and
Borders Masks
|
1.
|
These masks need some dexterity to use them.
As you are capturing the entire width of the
film, getting alignment involves some care and it's not as fast as the v3
system where the negative is fully guided into location.
With the Sprockets and Borders masks that
placement is, essentially, manual.

2.
|
Because of the way the film is held, it's not
going to be quite as flat as with the v3 masks where the film is fully
supported along its entire length.
You may need to increase your depth-of-field in
your digital shot to allow for this.
|
|
3.
|
You might also note that with the Sprockets and
Borders masks, unless your set-up and alignment is 'spot on', then there is
a possibility of stray light hitting your lens and causing issues.
After all, sprockets are, basically, holes that
will let light straight through!

Some things to note about the 120 Masks
|

Each mask set contains top, base and white guide
layers.
Its the same guide layer thats included with the 120 layers in the main
EFH units.

2.
|
These dedicated masks are not essential
for your EFH kit.
If you regularly shoot a mixture of frame sizes, then the standard EFH 6x9 masks
are more than adequate and you dont have to use these dedicated masks...other
than 6x12, of course.

3.
|
These dedicated masks come into their own in two
situations.
-
you are
standardized on one frame size for your Medium Format shooting
-
you want (or
need) to accelerate your scanning by simplifying frame alignment
